Korean Linguist - English to Korean at Welocalize (Japan). Responsibilities: - Perform copy-editing and on-demand translation tasks on assigned projects. - Provide lead support on assigned projects or accounts. - Manage language materials (glossaries, style guides, work instructions) to quality standards. - Manage project-related queries and resolve terminology questions. - Ensure effective team interaction on linguistic matters. - Test and qualify new freelancers and vendors. - Develop and train internal linguists and external partners. - Interact with clients on linguistic matters and participate in improving working processes. - Meet or exceed KPIs for productivity, on-time delivery and quality. Education: University degree in Translation, Applied Languages or Linguistic Studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (a university degree in another field plus 2 years of full-time translation experience, or 5 years of full-time professional translation experience). Experience and skills: - Native fluency in Korean language. - Fluency in English, written and spoken, in various registers. - 4+ years of experience in translation, localization, editing or content writing; 2+ years of review experience. - Thorough understanding of the localization process. - Proficiency with Windows and Office applications; experience with CAT tools (XTM, SDL Studio) and issue tracking tools (JIRA). - Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; excellent terminology knowledge in two or more subject matters. - Ability to work to tight deadlines, provide constructive feedback, train others and work within virtual teams.
