Senior Accountant, Japan & Korea

Turner & Townsend is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the Finance team in Tokyo. The successful candidate will support the financial operations of the Korea business while being based in Tokyo, working closely with the Korea Finance Manager, operational teams and external service providers to ensure accurate accounting, timely financial reporting, compliance with local requirements and alignment with Group policies. Key responsibilities cover accounts payable and receivable (reviewing vendor invoices, processing payments, issuing customer invoices, monitoring collections, recording cash receipts, reconciling customer accounts); month-end closing and financial reporting (journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, monthly financial reports for Group Finance, variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting support); cashflow management and banking (bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasts, day-to-day banking, monitoring cash positions and liquidity); payroll, tax and statutory compliance (liaising with external payroll, accounting and tax service providers in Korea, statutory filings, audits); revenue recognition and project accounting (fee schedules, accrual and deferral calculations, revenue recognition schedules, project profitability reporting); and general finance tasks including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset records and internal controls. Requirements: bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; 3-6 years of relevant accounting and finance experience; experience in general ledger accounting, AP, AR and month-end closing; experience with accounting or ERP systems; advanced Microsoft Excel skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; professional proficiency in English; native-level Korean proficiency; business-level proficiency in Japanese. Preferred: KICPA, FAT, TAT, CPA, ACCA or other accounting qualification; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience; multinational company experience; knowledge of Korean tax and statutory reporting; project accounting and revenue recognition experience.
